Shelita Burke – "Penetrate (Part 2)" (single premiere)

Shelita Burke is an indie music DIY success story. Instead of waiting for a major label to sign her or for Pitchfork and NME to share her songs to the global community, she took her music directly to the people. With little fanfare, she traveled the globe for two years, performing more than 150 shows across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. Free spirit, old school, a go-getter, an entrepreneur – call this young singer-songwriter whatever you want, but there is no doubting her spirit and ambition.

Eventually, her hard work paid off. And it did so in big ways. Earlier this year, she released “Penetrate”, a single produced by Marcus “Bellringer” Bell (Snoop Dogg, Timbaland, Nicki Minaj). The song was not your typical electro-pop radio fare. Instead, it was a low-key, sensual number that echoed Gotye’s work. The song became an unexpected viral hit, charting as high as #14 on the Billboard Top 100 and #2 on its “Next Big Sound” list. With more than one million streams on Spotify and a fanbase that has grown into the tens of thousands, Burke is 2017’s breakout star.

The Seattle-born artist could have easily signed with a label, but she’s opted to stay independent and, thus, autonomous. Today we are immensely privileged and excited to share her newest single, “Penetrate (Part 2).“

As the title indicates, “Penetrate (Part 2)” is a natural progression from her previous single. The intensity has increased significantly, as the buzzing synths and throbbing beats create a steamier, more sultry atmosphere. This provides the perfect setting for taking a relationship to the next level. As Burke seductively sings:
