City Calm DownAustralian rockers City Calm Down are releasing their long-awaited new album, In A Restless House .“Rabbit Run” is the first track from the record. It’s a breezy, delirious indie-rock tune with an ’80s feel. Another way to think of it: if The National wrote a song for an ’80s coming-of-age film, like Human League did, it probably would sound like this.

The single and forthcoming album were nearly three years in the making. City Calm Down had released an EP, the critically acclaimed Movements, in November 2012 and a couple of singles since then. They’ve put some of these tracks together in a little playlist they’ve listed as “Singles” on SoundCloud and which you can hear below. The driving synths and basslines stand out in their music, although “Rabbit Run” has a dreaminess to it that their previous singles did not.

In A Restless House officially drops on September 11 via I Oh You. Pre-order it on iTunes.

Hear “Rabbit Run” on the June 12th edition of The Weekend Showcase, a weekly playlist featuring new music from around the world. It’s a playlist made for the weekend.
