We love collaborations, and we often wonder why two individuals just don’t stick together and form a band. Such is the case with the one-off project by Lucian X Remmi, who have released the fantastic “Bobby K”. The song is a buzzing electro-pop song. But unlike many tracks from this genre that tend to focus on relationships, Lucian X Remmi take a historical perspective, dedicating the song to Robert Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968. The song is a reflection of not just what Kennedy meant to people then and now but also the culture of violence that pervades many corners of American society. It’s a clever track.
This isn’t the first time that the Nashville-based Remmi has taken a sociological examination of her homeland. On “Star Spangled”, she looks at the rise and fall of cities, families, and individuals. It’s an awesome single.
New York City-based Lucian, meanwhile, has garnered a pretty large following for his innovative remixes, which are often lush, hypnotic, and groovy as oppose to ear-splitting buzzsaws. His remix of ALTA’s “Hold Your Fire” is pretty great, although it comes close to reaching EDM levels. Both of these singles are below. You can also hear more from Lucian here and Remmi over here.
