Slower NowThere’s music that is mind blowing and then there is MIND BLOWING. Stockholm quartet Star Horse are the type of band who create earth-shattering, mind-altering music. Their shoegaze – or “stargaze” as they like to describe it – is scintillating and dreamy, accentuated by the lush vocals of front woman Maja Thunburg and the baritone textures of Andreas Ryberg.

On Tuesday, Star Horse released their latest split 7″, “Slower Now / Wherever You”. The former is the type of song that you can just lose your mind, getting lost in the shoegaze beauty of the dueling guitars. The opening riff might have you recalling some of the great guitar work of The Cure. The latter is more melodic and harmonious, but equally stunning with its ’90s-inspired sound.

You can get the split single on Bandcamp. The video for “Slower Now”, which debuted on Noisey, is below.

Star Horse are Maja (guitar/vocals); Andreas (guitar/vocals); Stas (bass); and Samuel (drums).

You can hear “Slower Now” on the June 12th edition of The Weekend Showcase, a weekly playlist featuring new music from around the world.
