The Dandy Warhols had not played Ottawa since 2000, but the Portland-based, indie-rockers’ fanbase was not adversely affected. The show as originally scheduled to be at Ritual Nightclub but was moved to the Bronson Centre to accommodate the high demand.
The band is currently touring in support of their new album Distortland, which will be released this Friday via Dine Alone Records (more on the album next week). I was there to witness the celebratory return of the indie-rock icons, who provided a high-energy, hold-nothing-back show. Hopefully they won’t wait another 16 years before their next visit to Canada’s capital!
Opening for The Dandy Warhols was the Seratones, a band we have featured on a few occasions recently. The Shreveport-based band was lead by firecracker AJ Haynes, who along with her bandmates did an outstanding job of warming up the audience with their lively set.
The Dandy Warhols are comprised of Courtney Taylor-Taylor (vocals/guitar), Peter Holmström (guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboard), and Brent DeBoer (drums). Follow The Dandy Warhols at: Website | Facebook | Twitter
