From Gatineau, Racine is a pretty intriguing electronic act. As with a lot of music I find on Bandcamp, the artist is pretty much anonymous, which is a shame. It’s labelled “experimental/electronic” which is true. However, this is some seriously dreamy stuff, and just calling it “electronic” doesn’t do it justice. This track, the title song from Racine’s Alan Smithee EP, has some hard-edged mechanical elements (deep in the mix) with some lovely atmospheric groove floating overtop of the hammering. It mixes soft and hard very well, and I really like it.
