The Hintonburg Happening is a nine-day festival of art, music, fashion and food all within the Hintonburg neighborhood.

The festival kicks off at the Somerset Square located at 2 Spadina Ave on June 21st from 1-8 pm {FREE or BY DONATION} Local performances, art, poetry food and drinks.

June 21

1-2:30 pm – Watercolour Demonstration on how to paint dynamic flowers at The Studio Cafe located at 1089 Somerset St. W {FREE}

June 22

1-2:30 pm – Learn how to make your own electro card at The Studio Cafe located at 1089 Somerset St. W {FIVE DOLLARS}

2-6 pm – Trunk show of designer scarves by local designer Krista Norris at Viens Avec Moi located at 100-1338 Wellington St. W {FREE}

5 pm – Outdoor screening of the original movie “The Kiss” at Tamarack Wellington located at 1140 Wellington St. W {FREE}

8-10 pm – Slam poetry hosted by Brad Morden and Patchwork Poetry House  and art exhibit by Elaine Saheurs at The Hintonburg Public House located at 1020 Wellingston St. W {FREE}

7-11 pm – Photography exhibition by underground punk music photographer Darryl Reid at Railbender Studio located at 3 Hamilton St. N {FREE}

7-11 pm – Enjoy a brew at Beyond the Pale with a complimentary Beyond the Pale tattoo at Beyond the Pale located at 5 Hamilton St. N {FREE}

7-11 pm – Play with clay on the potters wheel or free hand building at LOAM located at 7 Hamilton St. N {FREE}

7-10 pm – Reception and live demonstration of art work based on the theme – Ottawa Alleyways with artists Jay Anderson, John Jarrett, Strachan Johnston, Olaf Krassnitzky, Pina Manoni-Rennick, Karole Marois, Paul Schibli, Karl Schutt and Bernad Levesque at Cube Gallery located at 1285 Wellington St. W {FREE}

7-10 – Third Wave Band playing live at Carleton Tavern located at 223 Armstrong St. {FREE} Raffles throughout the evening.

1-2:30 pm – Help make a community clay quilt at The Hintonburg Pottery Shop located at 78 Hinton Ave. N {FREE}

June 29

9:30-10:45 pm – Flow Yoga instructed by Kate Durie at Twiss and Weber located at 1282C Wellington St. W {TEN DOLLARS} Pre-registration is required at the shop.

To close the event, all are welcome to head down to The Hintonburg Public House from 3-5 pm on June 29 for closing remarks and contest winners for the Window Decorating contest {FREE}
