The Jimmy Tri-Tone Band is a folk-rock duo from Almonte, a small town south-west of Ottawa, made up of James Walters, aka Jimmy tri-tone, and partner and bandmate Randelle Ashley who coined the name because of James’ three-toned beard. What started out as a fun nickname would eventually become the band’s actual name.
The band released their first EP Wanted in October 2014. While they’re already working on new material for a second EP, they’re still planning to organize a proper release for their latest EP. “We didn’t have an actual release for the EP, so we’re hoping to have one in the near future,” says Ashley. In addition to a release, the band is organizing a canoe tour along the Mississippi River for the end of May, playing at bars and venues along the way.
I met up with the duo on a Sunday afternoon at their rehearsal space in the west-end of Ottawa.
