Harkening to a time where just a guitar, a simple drum kit, maybe some keys, and a standup bass was all that was needed to create stirring music, 20-year old Samm Henshaw is turning heads with his combination of blues, soul, and gospel. He’s part of a new wave of artists, which includes Gary Clark, Jr., Leon Bridges and Benjamin Booker, who are bringing back the music of the deep south to the forefront.
His latest single, “Redemption”, is a stunning gospel-oriented song. Despite its solemn tone, it is an uplifting, spiritual track. “Redemption” will be part of his debut EP, The Sound Experiment, due out July 13. Also from the EP is “Only Wanna Be With You”. In addition, we’ve added the romantic ballad, “Best Song Ever”, below.
