Jill Andrews (USA) – “Cannibal”

We previously shared an awesome track by Jill Andrews last month. “Cannibal” is the newest track from her upcoming album The War Inside. With Andrews coming from a background of indie folk/Americana, she is creating herself a firm footing in the indie pop world of talented singer-songwriters. “Cannibal” is showcasing her welcoming vocals behind a bed of keys and synth and strings. “Cannibal” is slower paced than some of her other tracks, but it is also captures your attention and reels you in.

With lyrics like “your mouth is the gate of heaven, kiss me and we’ll live for ever” she is singing about that one relationship that almost seems primal. You can pre-order The War Inside here.

Kisses (USA) – “The Nile”

Kisses will soon release their third full-length album. The Los Angeles based duo is set to release Rest In Paradise which will be out October 9. “The Nile” is an ode to Rod Stewart according to singer Jesse Kivel. He got deep into “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and could not get over how much the production on that song mirrored some of his favorite more obscure disco favorites from the ’70s. Both Jesse and Zinzi Edmundson wanted to re-create that sound so here is the release of “The Nile”.

The track is full of disco era nostalgia but also includes many elements that are fresh and new making this a track you want to bob your head to and hit repeat. We look forward to hearing their upcoming album. If you are digging “The Nile” like we are, go here to pre-order Rest In Paradise.

After getting noticed by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stevens they garnered a spot at SXSW for the BBC Introducing showcase and are currently working on a new EP. “Choose” is one of their new tracks.
Longfellow is comprised of Owen James Lloyd, Ali Hetherington, James Thomas, Lewis Fowler and Simon Treasure.

“Choose” is a melodic and soaring indie pop track with memorable and deep lyrics about their love interest being their “shelter and my downfall”.

Melbourne based purveyors of non-threatening garage rock, The Naysayers have just released their latest single “Passing By”. It is one part all out garage rock and another part of full on psych rock. You can also check out the video, it’s pretty trippy.

The Naysayers are comprised of Nathaniel Parbery (Vocals/Bass), Gordon Holland (Vocals/Guitar), Harrie Kingston (Guitar/Vocals) and Jakk Burgess (Drums). They have a nice offering of garage-y rock tracks on their soundcloud page which range from having a straight up garage feel, obvious psych influences and even some surf pop. They are a talented group producing memorably reverb inspired rock.

Freedom Fry (France/USA) – “Tropicana”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/222890727″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”125″ iframe=”true” /]

It’s not exactly Barry Manilow, but better. Freedom Fry, one of our favorite acts of the past year, have established a reputation for creating anthemic, indie-pop numbers, but they dial things back and share with us a feel-good, summery tune with “Tropicana”. It has the feel of being on the beach with your closest friends, just hanging out and watching the day go by. Freedom Fry is the type of band that if you need a pick-me up, they have something to do just that like “Tropicana”.
