CityFolk 2015 – Day 4

I started Day 4 with Evening Hymns. I first saw Evening Hymns open for Basia Bulat in 2013. I’ve been waiting for another opportunity to see them again so this was a perfect start of the day for me. They were also celebrating their new CD release so the crowd was treated to a sneak peak of some of the new music as well.

After the more intimate show at Ravenlaw I went to the big stage to see The Sheepdogs play some solid rock’n’roll again. I have now seen them quite a few times, but that’s not to be confused with a complaint because I enjoy every show, and did again. Unfortunately it did start to rain during their set, but it made for some interesting ambiance to the evening.

The main stage concluded with the band Of Monsters and Men. I had missed their performance earlier this summer at Osheaga due to a conflict but I knew I would be having this opportunity to see an even longer set here in Ottawa. It is amazing to see how much the band has grown since I first saw them play Osheaga in 2012. At that time they were a relatively new band playing in the afternoon, and now they are headlining the festival. Good for them, they deserve their success!
