The great city of Seattle is home to some great bands. Obviously, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Fleet Foxes, Foo Fighters, and Death Cab for Cutie come immediately to mind. However, there are dozens of great indie acts, such as  Ephrata (long one of my personal favorites), Night Beats (whose new single is featured on this week’s Melodic Tonic), NAVVI, Chris Staples, Pickwick, Shabazz Palaces, and Perfume Genius, whose Two Bright LP was one of our favorite albums of 2015.

Now introducing Blackheart Honeymoon, a band who really isn’t that new. Rather, like so many bands, they’ve established a following in their hometown but beyond they’ve hovered under the radar for years. That could soon change as the band will be releasing new material in the coming weeks and months. As a first course, the five-piece band are sharing their new music video for “Bodies”, which we are pleased to premiere below.  The video follows two lost souls searching for “the one”, meandering through the streets of Seattle and West Seattle and stopping at many of the city’s iconic landmarks, such as Pike Market and the Space Needle (although no image of the Experience Music Project Museum).

The light mood of the video perfectly complements the cheery “Bodies”, which is a combination of sun-filled folk-pop and the choral pop with which the Pacific Northwest is increasingly becoming associated. The harmonies of the band are terrific while the melodies are highly contagious.

To call Blackheart Honeymoon a pop band, though, would be a mischaracterization. Their music is much more expansive, touching on alt-country and Americana and their forthcoming new tunes are expected to highlight the band’s musical bredth. Check out their social media links below to the latest news from the band, and hear more tunes on SoundCloud, Spotify, and Bandcamp.

Blackheart Honeymoon are Ian Prebo (vocals, acoustic guitar); Wesley Amundsen (bass); Steve Andrea (guitar); Adrienne Marie Pollock (vocals, keys); and Dusty Hayes (drums, vocals).
