We at The Revue have a soft spot for emerging and established indie singer-songwriters. We’ve written about Sharon Van Etten, Timothy Showalter (aka Strand of Oaks), Johanna Samuels, Angel Olsen, Justin Townes Earle, Joe Fletcher, Marta Pacek, Steve Gunn, Jesse Marchant, Chad VanGaalen, Damian Jurado, Brian Lopez, Beau Austin, and countless others. Today, we look at Samuel Ford.

Ford has yet to release an EP or LP, but he has written and shared a few singles. While he play predominantly just with himself and his acoustic guitar, his sound and approach vary – it can be haunting and extremely personal, much like Sharon Van Etten’s and Damien Jurado’s music; sound like a slow song written by an alt-rock or prog-rock band; or remind you of the Celtic music that comes out of the coastal UK and Atlantic Canada. Ford’s songwriting and the delicate melodies he’s able to produce indicate a promising future for the aspiring singer-songwriter from Rye, UK.

Judge for yourself the promise of Samuel Ford. The four tracks he’s released to date can be found on his Soundcloud page (some can be downloaded for free), and they are also below.
