Late in 2014, transcontinental band The Ryan O’Reilly Band, who are named after the band’s frontman, released a new EP, Northern Lights, and it’s being released for North American audiences. Combining folk, rock, and blues, the band makes mid-tempo, contemplative music. The lead single and title track, for example, is a romantic ballad while “The One” takes more of a folk-rock approach and is slightly more upbeat, but it maintains the theme of love and desire.

Northern Lights EP can be purchased on iTunes. Hear both of the aforementioned tracks below along with the video for the title track. The band is tour and see below for dates.

“Northern Lights” is one of 20 songs on the March 20th edition of the Weekend Showcase, which is a playlist of new music from the indie world.
