David Alexander has been captivating the hearts and minds of music fans in his homeland of Sweden and across Europe with his optimistic, summery indie-pop. Better known by his musical moniker, Summer Heart, he released last month his latest EP, Thinking of U, which fits the mood of the upcoming warmer weather.

When we asked him to write this list, he didn’t hesitate. We gave him free range on what he would like. When we received it, we were somewhat surprised because the list wasn’t music related, like so many of our previous Artiste 5s. Instead, he provided us with a list of five great spots to visit in southern Sweden. Then again, we shouldn’t be that surprised because David has long been proud of his homeland and much of his music reflects his environment.

So without further ado, here are five “hidden gems” of southern Sweden, spots that David enjoys and recommends you visit if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Five Hidden Gems to Visit in Southern Sweden

1. Butik Fabrik – Malmö

1 Butik FabrikDesign-and-art shop Butik Fabrik at St. Knut in Malmö is definitely my favourite place in Malmö. Loads of vintage, re-design and local designers. More or less everything in my flat is from this shop. They also do exhibitions and lots of other fun things. I’ve been spinning records on some of their exhibitions as well.
