I normally don’t post music videos, but this is an exception. New Zealand singer-songwriter Anthonie Tonnon released his new album, Successor, in New Zealand this past March, and it was to be released in North America around the same time. However, its US/Canada release was delayed as two of the best little indie labels on this side of the Pacific, Misra Records and Wild Kindness, have picked up distribution rights. Successor is now set to be officially launched here on June 30th.
To give you a flavor of what is to come, Tonnon, who was one of our hidden gems back in December 2014, has shared the video from the lead single, “Water Underground”, which is one of the year’s best singles to date. The song demonstrates Tonnon’s ability to write infectious and rousing indie pop. His forthcoming album was one of our most anticipated of 2015, and I can say it lives up to expectations.
