Raccoon FighterBrooklyn-based, Queens, New York natives Raccoon Fighter are one of those indie-rock bands that sneak up on you. They’re the type of band that may hasn’t had a massive hit yet they have a pretty decent size fan base. A big part of that is their live shows, which are blazing, blasting, energetic spurts of entertainment. And in a city of 8.5 million people not including the surrounding townships that loves a great live gig, it’s not difficult to see why they have developed a significant following over their 5+ years as a band.

In addition, Raccoon Fighter’s indie rock sound is engaging. It touches on everything from 70s-inspired classic rock to garage-rock and -pop to contemporary indie rock to even traces of post-punk. Their latest single, “15 Minutes”, is a fuzzed-out, quirky rocker that echoes of the garage-pop of King Tuff. We can hear this song being turned out several decibels in one of NYC’s hallow, back-room, concert halls with a sweaty mob of concertgoers feverishly dancing. Heck, we’re doing that as we spin this track.

“15 Minutes” is from Raccoon Fighter’s forthcoming EP, Spiral Flag. The album comes out July 24 via PaperCup Music.

The song is also one of twenty-two found on the June 26th Edition of the Weekend Showcase. Discover some new, emerging bands from around the world and hear their great new singles.
