Our take: We found this track completely by accident. It wasn’t sent to us, but just a random find on SoundCloud. It only took one listen for us to say, “Wow!”. And to think, “Burning Out” is a demo. On this single and her previous works, Kirsten Izer has an innate ability to channel her deepest emotions and fears not only through her words but the power of her guitar. Her music is intimate, moving, and often crushing. “Burning Out”, though, takes these characteristics to another level, where you are transported inside Izer. The song is a stunner.

What’s next: We’re not quite sure, but we hope Ms. Izer doesn’t do much to this song. We also hope there will be an EP or LP on the horizon, but we know she’s busy with promoting other musicians’ work as well.

Other music: She’s done a number of original songs, such as “Tomorrow”, and one of the best covers we’ve heard of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”.
