From the beginning it was Day 5 I was most looking forward to. It began with the amazing Lucius who I discovered at Bluesfest a couple years ago and they were great once again. Following them, it was a personal favourite. In my opinion Lucinda Williams is one of the very best songwriters there is and her new album is absolutely fantastic. It was so great to be able to see her perform again as I have not had the privilege since she performed with Levon Helm at Massey Hall in 2011. I don’t get many opportunities to see her perform so I will take every one I get!
Following Lucinda was Passenger. I admit I only know his last two albums but I quite like them so I was looking forward to seeing him live. He was everything I hoped for and more. Not only did he sound fantastic, his banter with the audience was hilarious and people were talking about it around the city the next day. He was a very pleasant surprise for many.
Closing out the main stage on the final night of the festival was Wilco. I must admit I have never been a huge Wilco fan. I stuck around to catch the start of the act because I was already there. Then I found myself absolutely mesmerized by their performance. One more song turned into two more songs. Then two more songs, into three. Next thing I know I stayed for their entire act and loved every minute of it. I am now a fan of Wilco.
