On November 26th, Matthew Good brought his cross-Canada tour to Ottawa’s National Arts Centre backed by Blake Manning on drums, previous tour alumni Stuart Cameron on guitar, and newly added Bones Hillman on bass. The set was framed with a copious selection of songs from his latest and 7th solo studio release, Chaotic Neutral, an album highly anticipated by the fans eager to see it performed live. Though this show was light on Matthew’s ever-observant banter, he did uncharacteristically venture into the crowd during Army of Lions, much to the excitement of those in attendance, particularly those near him in the first few rows. The set was balanced with a healthy selection of crowd rousing anthems from years past, including Giant, Weapon and Everything is Automatic. During the 17 song set, the Kate Bush cover Cloudbusting was a highlight during the encore.
Opening the evening was Scott Helman, who’s debut EP Augusta hit the airwaves in late 2014.
Both artists are with Warner Music.
Chaotic Neutral is available on iTunes and Amazon.ca.
