In a time when synths and Garage Band are the instruments of choice, you might have missed the resurgence of lo-fi, bedroom pop. Whereas electronic bands are looking for the latest equipment and software, bands and artists like American Wrestlers and Los Angeles Police Department are using vintage amps, cassette decks, and even 8-tracks to record their music in the comforts of their living rooms or bedrooms. It’s some of the most intimate music being shared today, and a relative newcomer to the genre is Henry Moser.
Under his project The Easies, Moser is creating what could be described as easy-listening, lo-fi, indie pop-rock. Today, here’s the opportunity to discover this talented musician in this premiere of his latest single, “Drawing Blank”.
“Drawing Blank” personifies what bedroom pop should be – light, airy, and intimate. Moser, however, adds a bit of jangle / surf rock to give this track about new beginnings a summery vibe. Another way to think about this song is if Gotye, Real Estate, and Mac DeMarco joined forces for just one track, the conception likely would be something like this dreamy number. It’s the perfect song for a lazy day at the beach or just sitting out back on the patio and having a cold one with friends.
