Stone Cold Fox - Tunnel Vision

We have long stated that we would not share the music of immensely popular artist with two exceptions – a) they were part of a great compilation created in memory of a great artist or band or b) they collaborated with other artists to form a super-group worth everyone’s attention. Well, we have to add a third category thanks to Stone Cold Fox.

The Brooklyn-based, indie quartet recently released a pretty cool EP, Tunnel Vision (order on iTunes or hear it on SoundCloud), which contains five singles that are very Phoenix-esque in their arrangements and overall sound – that cosmic, future disco sound that is infectious, danceable, and just a delight to listen.

Today, they have authored our Mundo list, sharing their 10 “guilty pleasures” – each and every song by an artist or band you most definitely know. So without knowing it, not only have Kevin Olken Henthorn (vocals/guitar), Ariel Loh (keyboards/synths), Aaron Hamel (drums), Graham Stone (guitar), and Justin Bright (bass) written a piece for us; they have also re-written one of our longstanding policies. But who cares because, well, we also sing along to some of these songs (did we say that out loud?).

Trust us, Stone Cold Fox are on the verge of stardom with their infectious style.

The Guilty Pleasures of Stone Cold Fox

Carly Rae Jepsen, “Call Me Maybe”

I hate this song, like a lot, but it’s just so damn catchy! Those pop writers pulled all the stops, such a well done production, I hate them for it…

(Editor’s note: We agree – damn those pop writers and producers!)

Blink-182, “All The Small Things”

This was like the Bible in 5th grade.

(Editor’s note: Sure, iif you’re into small things.)

Sia, “Chandelier”

This is the best shower song ever. Find myself singing this almost weekly!

(Editor’s note: probably the best dancing video since Christopher Walken’s starring role in Fat Boy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice”. We also occasionally scream the lyrics in the shower.)

Sum 41, “Fat Lip”

Just one big middle finger to society, well it was at the time. Teen angst in full force!!!

(Editor’s note: We’re a bit older, but it was Rage Against the Machine and Beastie Boys for us.)

Ace of Base, “The Sign”

This was the first CD I owned as a middle schooler. Every time I hear it I just can’t help but start dancing!

(Editor’s note: We love this song! Excuse us as we prance around.)

Chubawamba, “Tubthumping”

You couldn’t escape this song in the late 90’s, its so infectious! A karaoke staple for us!

(Editor’s note: Not just a karaoke song, but arguably one of the most popular house party anthems in history).

The 1975, “Girls”

This is just a good song, what else can you say?!?!

(Editor’s note: Well, we could say that The 1975 have evolved into a pop band.)

Justin Bieber, “Sorry”

Bieber fan or not, you just can’t escape this song. Sorry not sorry!

(Editor’s note: We want an apology from the Stone Cold Fox member who chose this!)

Alphaville, “Big in Japan”

This is 80’s perfection. If this song came out today it would probably be a huge hit!

(Editor’s note: They don’t make videos this cheesy good anymore.)

Britney Spears, “Toxic”

One of the greatest pop songs ever! What 00’s kid didn’t lose it when this came on the radio?

(Editor’s note: See our comments on Carly Rae Jepsen.)
