Never ones to take themselves too seriously and always seeming to have a great time, the Portland, Oregon trio of Jason, Chevelle, and Chris – a.k.a. Guantanomo Baywatch – are making insanely amusing and entertaining music. Their personalities are on full display on Darling…It’s Too Late, their wonderfully quirky, slightly bizarre, and 100% fun new album. The entire album is founded on the jangle and surf pop-rock of the ’60s and ’70s. If there is to be another surfing movie, this should be its soundtrack.

Among the many great songs is the wildly infectious “Jungle Bride”, which is the opening track. Soul singer Chris Harding also makes a guest appearance on the superb and romantic ballad “Too Late”, which showcases the band’s diversity.

You can hear the entire album below if you wish. It’s available now on Suicide Squeeze. Purchase it at the label’s store and iTunes.

“Jungle Bride” is also part of the May 15th Edition of the Weekend Showcase, our weekly playlist of 20 singles from around the world.
