Here’s the final Rendition of the year. The focus is on uplifting, energizing tracks to help you make that final push to get your holiday shopping done, to finish the baking preparations, or whatever you may be doing this weekend. Time to get the party started.
Cosmo’s Midnight – “Walk With Me” ft. Kučka (KOA Remix)

We kick things off with a pair of rising Sydney bands. Cosmo’s Midnight has been making waves down under with their catchy, electro-pop while electronic duo KOA have been rising within Australia’s house and club scene. This remix sees Cosmo’s Midnight’s hit track, “Walk With Me”, be transformed from a tickling pop tune to a more energetic, dance-oriented track. While KOA haven’t massively overhauled the track like some remixes, their subtle touches have made this rendition even more scintillating and infectious than the original.

Slaptop – “Walls” (Lonely Boy’s Dirty Mix)
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/236665840″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”133″ iframe=”true” /]
Los Angeles-based Joshua Heath – a.k.a. Lonely Boy – might be one of the most diverse and creative DJs/producers out there. He often infuses funk and jazz elements to his remixes and original music, building on the foundation he established while obtaining his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies. On this remix, though, he looks to Europe to create a haunting yet sensual rendition of fellow Californian Slaptop‘s cool “Walls”. The remake sounds like something right out of Matthew Dear’s portfolio.

SAINT WKND feat. INGLSH – “Lost (Runaway)” (N2N & AKKI Remix)
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/236638504″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
Can a collaborative remix of a collaboration work? Brooklyn-based producers N2N and AKKI (who also has called Sydney and Singapore home) demonstrate that it can work. Their reworking of SAINT WKND‘s hit “Lost” has a boundless energy to it. They’ve further accentuated INGLSH’s gorgeous voice, but they’ve made this stunning track into a more hypnotic, sultry, and enthralling number. Their rendition might leave you in a trance.

Panama Wedding – “Infinite High” (Bee’s Knees Remix)
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/237505238″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”133″ iframe=”true” /]
New York City’s Panama Wedding is known for creating bubbly pop music. It’s the type of music that will leave a smile on most people’s faces. When one of his singles, like “Infinite High”, gets remixed into a song that sounds even more summery and mood swaying, the smiles become endless. This is exactly what LA-based duo Bee’s Knees have done. The remix has a Chainsmokers’ vibe to it – anthemic & highly catchy – and this young duo has that sort of potential.

Philco Fiction – “June 17” (LEIF Remix)
[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/236958681″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”133″ iframe=”true” /]
We end the last Rendition with two acts from Oslo, Norway, one of whom we’ve featured previously on The Weekend Showcase. Philco Fiction is one of those under-the-radar acts who create scintillating electro-pop. Their music can be euphoric and dance-oriented or dark and hypnotic. Their single “June 17” lied somewhere in between, but the remix by Norwegian producer LEIF turns it into a dark, ambient track. It is, in short, a sublime and startling remix that will haunt your mind for days.
