Here’s this week’s Rendition, which features awesome remixes spinning in the interweb. This week is a little different. Included are three remixes of the same song for you to determine which you enjoy the most. In addition, there’s a bonus treat as a classic song gets a makeover.

Twinsmith – “Dust” (Enso Remix)

Earlier this year, Omaha, Nebraska-based Twinsmith released their sophomore album, Alligator Years, a terrific album that revealed a more expansive and mature sound for the quartet. One of the stars of the record was “Dust”, an indie-pop tune that echoed of Vampire Weekend and Yeasayer.

The song has been given a makeover by fellow Omaha resident Enso. Without losing the song’s emotional engagement, Enso made it more chilling and haunting than the original. At the same time, he’s picked up the pace, adding a couple of electronic overdubs to give it a more rhythmic almost tribal feel. This remix is at equal to the original and some may even prefer it.

Alligator Years is available via Saddle Creek, and it can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon.

Lane 8 – “Undercover” feat. Matthew Dear (three remixes)

Last week, Lane 8 released his collaboration with the extraordinary Matthew Dear. Along with the new song, three remixes were included, including by producers Yotto of Finland, Canadian Eekkoo, and Wankelmut from Berlin. The original track by Lane & Matthew Dear is a downtempo, dark track. The three remixes pick up the tempo but retaining the hush darkness that has become Dear’s trademark.

Each of the three remixes are below while the original is above. If you enjoy what you hear from Lane 8, he released his debut album Rise earlier this year, and it is available now via Anjunadeep. In addition to Matthew Dear, other guest performers include Solomon Grey and Lulu James. Get it at iTunes and Amazon.

Jackson 5 – “I Want You Back” (3Stripes Twerk Remix)

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/226369452″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”125″ iframe=”true” /]

Yes, the Jackson 5‘s “I Want You Want” has been remixed thousands of times and then some (it might be the most remixed song of all-time), but this one by Perth, Australia-based producer 3StripesDJ is pretty awesome. His use of the keyboard to add synthetic horns gives the remix an early ’70s feel, keeping with the era the song was released and the track’s Motown groove. This is the perfect track to spin for any weekend party.

3StripesDJ is Victor Estrano.
